My first post

One thing that I have really tried to do since transferring to the Park School and deciding to study television and radio is dissect scenes and figure out how the filmmakers decided to piece together scenes and what each shot contributes to the overall theme of the movie. One of my favorite films is Goodfellas by Martin Scorsese. A film about the mob world in New York in the 1970's and 80's. It's a brilliant film that unfortunately lost out on winning best picture to Dances With Wolves which came out the same year. Unlike the classic Godfather series, Goodfellas depicts a much more personable side to the mob, and Scorsese, who grew up with many of the wise guys in brooklyn, does a brilliant job conveying the emotions and roller coaster ride that is mob life.
If you haven't seen the movie definitely check it out.
