adr

for my adr project I'm using clips from spongebob and the movie Se7en. It's coming together pretty well actually. I am hopefully recording voices tonight. All is going good.
p.s.- what is a transcript.. I know its like an academic record that you send out to other schools and colleges. but I was confused when that word was used in class today. didn't really make any sense to me. can someone clear that up?

Hey Leah! In this case, you're transcribing the dialogue of the scene; that is, you're writing down what the actors are saying. It's like the reverse of writing a script.

That is correct. Write down the original dialogue. It will help you create the replacement dialog, specially since you will be able to see the pattern. Also, it is a good idea to highlight the "p's" and "m's" which are the most noticeable sync indicators. So for example, you could replace someone saying "please" with "painting" or "parrot" etc. That would make sync a lot easier. That is one of the things they do when they dub into another language.
