HiPiHi: China's Answer to SL

Just thought I'd post this little tid bit about China's SL clone that just came into beta. In some ways it looks more detailed than SL, but the animations don't look as smooth to me. Either way I thought it was interesting that there is a thought that HiPiHi could be the answer to go create standards for virtual worlds and take them from being a simulation separate from the Internet to becoming mainstream internet as the 3D internet.

This clip is a TV News program (aired on Feb 19, 2008) produced by HiPiHi TV Network (Actually someone just made it for fun).

The first news is about the policy change for using "version 50012" (it seems to be something related to the use of Flash).

Someone created a sophisticated crown that he even built a "black cage" to protect it. However, the script he used for protecting the crown was not quite compatible with the old version 50012. The news showed how they solve the problem, and how this individual matter made the version 50012 fully open to public use.

Then, they found someone used drugs. He/She was arrested for further investigation.

In the second news, the reporter went to a popular movie theater. She showed and explained some special functions, for example, a billboard with teleport attribute, a jukebox on the second floor, etc. Avatars can watch movie as in the real life. The reporter also interviewed the CEO and a avatar who just watched the movie.

Personally, I think HiPiHi still need more improvement. However, it provides people who only understand Chinese the chance to use the VW.

oops~ sorry, I need to correct something:

HiPiHi used to use version 5011, then they change to version 5012. There was no "old version 5012."

I know the typo is not that important, but, just make it right.
