Final Part of Time Traveling Trilogy 'Back to the Future Part III' Review

After recently watching Back to the Future Part I & II, I naturally wanted to see the final part of an enjoyable trilogy. One thing I wish I hadn't seen was the theatrical trailer for Back to the Future Part III; that was forced upon the viewer right after the Part II movie, before the credits rolled. The reason is that after seeing Back to the Future Part III, I soon realized the trailer showed most of the best scenes and lines from the movie.

Here is the Trailer for anyone that is interested:

Back to the Future Part III's conflicts are pretty similar to the first two parts, and this film has a goofier and kind of cheesier feel to it as well.  If someone just watched Part III without watching the first two films, I can't imagine anyone liking it nearly as much.  The main reason being that this film plays off fan favorite parts from the other two films. Especially the over used catchy line said by, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) & good pal, Emmett Lathrop "Doc" Brown (Christopher Lloyd).  They both say "Great Scott!" multiple times throughout all three parts.

I do believe the ending of this trilogy was satisfying for anyone that saw all three parts.

I would rate Back to the Future Part III: 7.2/10.

Part three was no where nearly as good as parts one and two. I wish they made the third parts story and conflicts not so similar to what we have already seen in the previous two films. I guess the franchise went with the,"if it aint broke, don't fix it" strategy.  Rating wise though Back to the Future Part III, received a rating of 73% from Rotten Tomatoes, compared to the 96% that Back to the Future Part I was given.

Overall this is a great trilogy.  I enjoy the balance of thrill and drama with the right mixture of comedy and that is one thing all of these films did real well.  If somehow someone never saw any of these films, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND seeing the Original!

If I just saw Back to the Future Part III without seeing the first two installments I would rate the film: 3.5/10.  You need to see these films in order to fully understand and enjoy the ride of this popular time traveling trilogy.

Time traveling to the year 2015 'Back to the Future Part II'

Most of us have seen the Back to the Future movies, but it may have been a while since you've seen Back to the Future Part II, where Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) & The "Doc" (Christopher Lloyd) travel 30 years to the future!
They travel to October 2015 to prevent Marty's future son from getting arrested and sentenced to jail.

I enjoyed seeing what they thought the year 2015 would have been like technoolgy wise, and unfortunately we are still years away from some of their "future" predictions.

Some of my favorite things they predicted for the year 2015:

Perfectly accurate weather, down to the second. It would be very nice to know exactly when the rain would stop/end. They showed that it was possible to put a mini dehydrated pizza in a "Black & Decker Hydrator" and have a full size pizza in seconds! I wonder if this technology of hydrating food will ever be invented.
I also liked how they thought clothes would be in the year 2015. They showed Marty wearing a self adjusting jacket, that could also dry itself automatically when wet.
I love the Nikes with "Power laces" that Marty wore. I am surprised we haven't seen anything like these yet, hopefully Nike will actually make these in the near future.
One thing I can't see catching on is "Kids" wearing their pants inside out, that is one fashion trend I hope never happens.
One thing I feel that this movie did predict really well for how the future would be, is how much we are engulfed in media. There are deleted scenes I watched from this movie that I wish they kept because it may have been their best predictions. The scenes are of the future Marty coming home from work and going to talk to his son. His son is not just watching TV, but watching multiple programs at once. Marty wants his son at the dinner table, and the only way his son agrees is when Marty gives him these glasses you put on and can watch two shows at once.  I feel like we are getting close to a world like this where people use media 24/7.

Continue to Inspire

Thank God For Movies

For over more than a hundred years, film has taken a very prominent role in our society. It has brought millions of people together all for one thing: to learn a story of another. Each film that is made speaks to each and everyone of us in a different way. Whether it is because we relate to a character, or we are familiar with the story, or merely because it makes us feel a certain way. Film does this for everyone. It is what inspires us to continue onto our dreams. It is what makes us laugh to the point where abs start to grow. It is what makes us cry so hard that we have to bring tissues with us to the theater. It is what makes us mad and gives us drive to make a change in the world. Film does it all and it does it for everyone.

Growing up, I was immediately drawn to film. Over the course of my life, I have watched several different movies, where not one character was the same. All these stories each had some kind of uniqueness. This uniqueness was brought out through many characters. Many that I wanted and still want to be. Somehow I want to incorporate all of the amazing qualities I have observed, into myself. These qualities are something that I ultimately want to possess for as long as I live. I want to be Ariel, from The Little Mermaid because she can sing. I want to be Cinderella because of the strength she had shown growing up with two evil step sisters. I want to be Rose, from the Titanic, because she would rather die with the one she loved, than to live alone.

I want to be Mrs. Smith because of her daring job, and how bad ass she was. I want to be Marty McFly and travel through time and experience a life changing moment. I want to be Edward Scissorhands because he is so compassionate and empathetic. I want to be Donnie Darko and be able to question certain occurrences in my life. I want to be them all.

I think most of the time people tend to forget where they came from. My generation, our generation, has come from a time where we were taught it is okay to put yourself first. But in order to do that, you have to know what you want, and what you truly believe is right for you, for who you are. And it is these characters that have helped shaped us as people. And we cannot forget that. My point is that these movies, these characters, are what inspired us to grow up and do what we want to do. They taught us to reach for the moon and to never give up, nothing is impossible. In order to continue on with our dreams, we have to reach back into our past, so we can continue to make these
characters that help children, teens, adults, everywhere to aspire for more. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel learns that she for once has to put herself first, and by doing that she falls inlove with Prince Eric. In Mr. & Mrs. Smith, they both realize that their jobs aren't worth losing each other. All of these movies are teaching us key lessons in life. Without them, what guidance do we have to look up to? These are the ideas that will inspire future generations to come.

Everything Wrong With...

Almost all movies strive to have perfect continuity throughout, but in theory some continuity errors are bound to happen. Some may happen because the scene was shot on two different days or some can just happen because we are humans and we aren't always perfect. There are just hundreds of reasons why. Youtuber CinemaSins states "No movie is without sin. We exist mostly just to remind you of that." CinemaSins is popular on Youtube with 1,585,174 subscribers and 188,989,171 views on all his videos combined. CinemaSins has combed through multiple movies looking for these continuity errors which people may or may not pick up when they are just watching the movie for for themselves. After he calculates how many errors are in the movies he creates a video showing all the errors and explain why they are continuity errors. I found it truly fascinating how he is able pick up all of these errors. One of my favorite videos he has posted was Everything Wrong With Back to the Future in 8 Minutes or Less.
There are 55 errors, or sins as CinemaSins calls them, in this movie, which is pretty high compared to other movies he has gone through. I have seen this movie at least thirty times throughout my life time and have not picked up a single one of these errors. There were sins from the appearance of Doc in his Delorean to the nerd level  of George McFly.  Ater watching this video I have to watch the movie over again to see for mine own eyes these errors. I have watched many more of CinemaSins videos and I will definitely not see those movies like I used to. I definitely recommend watching other videos that have been posted by CinemaSins you never know what you will find.

Nostalgia

When I came across this video mixing clips from 1980's movies and television shows with electronic music, I was interested to see how many of the movies and shows I would recognize off the top of my head. Some of my favorite movies are from the 80's. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Back to the Future (only the first one of course), Weird Science, Risky Business, Terminator, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and The Goonies are among my all-time favorites. While I have to say 95 percent of the stuff was completely unrecognizable to me, I did manage to recognize some clips. How much can you recognize?
