Non-Linear Storytelling

I've always been fascinated with movies that don't necessarily tell the story chronologically. The creative latitude that video gives us as filmmakers is something that we take for granted. A non-linear narrative is a different way to gain and keep the audience's interest. Many great films use non-linear narrative, Memento for example. Another great film that also uses it is 500 hundred days of summer. Most of you have probably seen in, being there are so many Zooey Deschanel fans. This used non-linear storytelling to give a fresh take on romantic movies. In the scene posted below, two sub-narratives are told to the audience at the same time. It's also a good example how two similar scenes can tell very different stories with only a few minor changes.
