Abduction

Over the break I had watched the movie Abduction with Taylor Lautner and I was personally impressed. I've never been the biggest fan of him or his movies, but I was actually impressed on how this movie turned out.

The way that the movie had incorporated his story and his parents I thought was truly interesting. When he found out that he was adopted, I thought that that was such a good turn of events to bring about how his parents were not actually his parents.

When I watched this movie I had watched it with my mom. Now granted, she was probably asleep for some of it, she even said that she liked it and ought that it was a great movie. I didn't exactly think that it was a great movie but I liked how they incorporated everything into it.

In a weird way this movie sort of reminded me of a Taken type of movie. I only think this cause of the fighting scenes in the movie, even though it was a totally different base line.

But anyway, if you think that fighting and killing are awesome and just happen to like Taylor Lautner as a plus, this movie is for you.

Expendables 2

Now I know I was talking about this movie just a tad in class the other day, however, I think this movie deserves a post because it was that EPIC. The Expendables movies are about a group of "older gentlemen" who are considered mercenaries. In the first movie they did a job for Bruce Willis, Mr. Church. They team finished the job however, there was more killing that went on than he wanted. In this movie, Church comes back saying that the job wasn't done to his standard and then sends them on another job for him. The job was to pick up someone from another country. When they get there, they run into problem after problem and killing is happening left and right. Now me watching this movie I thought it was just pure awesomeness. Though, to others, like my girlfriend, don't like it much because they think it's either dumb or just too gorey. Me personally, I love the gore and I love the people, therefore, I love the movie. It was the most awesome people in the movie, including Chuck Norris.

If you're a person who likes the kind of movies where you see peoples heads come clean off with a .50 Caliber sniper or by getting pushed into the rotters of a helicopter then this movie is for you.

Carlos

I started watching a trilogy this weekend called Carlos. It's about a communist terrorist named Illich Ramírez Sanchéz operating in Europe and the Middle East during the 1970's. What's really interesting about the story is how closely different terrorist cells work together and help each other out, even if they have different goals. The movie itself is very well done, it has the look and feel of the 1970's and acting makes you want to meet these people and live their lives. Which is really strange because they were assassins. The soundtrack is all 70's music and is expertly put together. I strongly recommend watching these films; even if each one is three hours long.

My hard drive is currently precariously placed on a chair in the lab

And that's okay. Nothing like a bit of a challenge to everyone else while you're editing. Hey guys! If you're reading this during class, don't trip!

Anyhow, I saw Battle LA the other day. Great visual effects. It was a shame that the story didn't let us see much of them, though. Most of what I got to witness was the gritty landscape of the destroyed city, which is rubble and rubble and rubble and rubble and rubble. I would have loved to see more robot aliens. From the six frames I saw of them, they looked very cool. Okay, and there was that scene where they cut through one of the aliens to find the weak spot. But other than that, it was a good use of special effects for some pretty mediocre reasons.

The story and everything else was eh and meh, though. Aliens are colonizing the Earth. Great! Let's kill them! But why? Well, they're killing us. But why? Because they may want our water. Hmmm, okay, but why? For fuel. Ohhh. Well, you could have made that a little clearer earlier on in the movie; unless you were afraid that the explosions and the helicopters were going to be compromised. Less story, more helicopters! Isn't that how it works? No. Also, the actors weren't subpar, but what they were acting wasn't hard by any means. Children could have done it. It was mostly screaming and grunting. Children can scream and grunt. That's all babies do, I know that. Just ask my two year old nephew. Awwww. I'm sidetracked. Spring break.

I gave it a 4/10. I'd watch it again only if my roommate and his drunk frat brothers were watching it on Netflix. They're suckers for this kind of stuff. Again, meh and eh.

STATUS REPORT ON EDITING! Pretty much one-third of the movie is rough edited in Final Cut. I've got to work on the SFX for the opening shot, and it was a pain to get the audio to flow well. We might have to ADR. But that's not so much a problem right now. We've got a few weeks. I'm sure we can get this done.

Then it's on to the next project. Who's betting on music video?
